Whether you’ve never sat on a horse before (let alone picked up a stick!) or you’ve played for years our experienced HPA accredited coaches can help you improve your game. We offer tailored lessons for individuals or group lessons and taster sessions. We can also offer regular weekly lessons for groups such as schools and universities.
Once you are confident in the saddle we run weekly instructional chukkas as a stepping stone to faster polo with fun social groups in the clubhouse after. We offer fun days, Hen parties and Corporate days for those who just want a new experience. Interested?
Meet the coaches

Director, polo coach, and resident veterinary surgeon.
Lorna is a 0 goal player, 2 in the arena and 4 goals ladies. Lorna started playing as a child and has ridden her whole life. She has also played for her country in lades polo and was part of the first England team to win in Manipur.
She started her career as an equine vet but after moving to Longdole and starting a family she has turned her hand to polo instruction instead. Lorna enjoys teaching beginners and children and has a talent for explaining the logisitics of the half seat and polo swing. Lornas special interest is in the art of riding for polo and getting the best out of the horses.
Mikey Howe
Manager of Polo, Polo Professional
Mikey has been a professional player for most of his life, he plays off 4 goals on grass and 5 in the arena, he has played several times for England and his highest rating was 5 goals outdoors. These days he still plays a busy schedule of polo and dedicates time to young horses as well as instructing.
He is an experienced player with an eye for improving peoples swing and he has a special interest in penalties. For existing players looking to up their game and their ball skills Mikey is a fantastic coach.
Our Ponies
We would be nothing at Longdole if it weren’t for our wonderful ponies. Our ponies are kept to the highest possible welfare standards and with a vet on site at all times we ensure they want for nothing.
We have a range of ponies from bombproof confidence givers to powerful ponies for more experienced players.
They are available for lessons and for hire in chukkas and matches all year round and they take their role of making sure everyone enjoys the sport of polo very seriously!
